CHARACTER
Character Name: Bro (Dirk) Strider
Canon: Homestuck
Age: 33, looks a bit older.
Timeline: Right about the time he dies after Jack runs him through with his own sword.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: Any interaction between Bro and Karkat, if any, will be extremely minimal and will take place off screen. At most, they'll just know of each others existence rather than interact.

Personality: Bro is, first and foremost, a Pretty Cool Dude (with a dash of businessman). He's generally very chill and collected and not a whole lot of things tend to surprise or bother him much (the one thing that continues to surprise him, however, is Dave). Irony is his favorite thing on earth next to puppets and swordplay (the two hold equal rank as far as he's concerned), but sometimes it's really debatable as to whether he does things for the ironic humor or because he actually, legitimately, enjoys them. Either way it gets played off as completely ironic so that he doesn't look like a dweeb in front of Dave. (Gotta be cool, always.)

His Cool Dude Attitude is the top layer of a guy whos personality is really way more complex than it needs to be. Underneath the cool exterior and knowledge of how to throw a legendary rager, he's almost painfully eccentric and immature with his fondness for mind games and harassing Dave at complete random. He can be a bit too aggressive sometimes and doesn't seem to notice when, or if, he crosses a line until it's a bit too late. If he's called out he offers his apology in the form of surrendering a bottle of orange soda and maybe letting you steal his hat (not like he doesn't have thousands of others) or touch his hair. He's not very good with verbal apologies, or really verbal anything if it has to do with his own emotions. He tends to sound clinical and awkward and he just prefers avoiding Emotions Talk altogether.
His speech is otherwise what is essentially a pure stream of completely unfiltered consciousness and he'll share random thoughts out of the wild blue yonder at times or go just off on a philosophical soliloquy if he's got nothing better to do and is feeling particularly talkative. He has very little social filter and is a poor judge of just how far can be too far. His vocabulary is enormous, but he tends to stick to much shorter words due to laziness. He also pretends to be dumb to meet people's expectations, only to surprise them later on with his insight.

He has odd sleeping habits and he gets a small bit weird when he's tired and has had a very unhealthy amount of caffeine. Examples of his weirdness would be that he puts fireworks in the kitchen sink and an array of sharp replica swords in the refrigerator and/or microwave, falls asleep in the dryer or bathtub and plots out elaborate traps for his little brother that are way more elabortate than they have any business being.
He doesn't usually express his any of his more inner weirdness willingly, it just kind of seeps through when he least expects it and sometimes he doesn't even notice. He tends act like he's a lot cooler than he really is and it's this ridiculous amount self-confidence and bravado that seems to trick encourage others to also believe that he's a lot cooler than he really is.
Unfortunately for Bro, once the people in question really get to know the REAL Bro Strider, they tend to change their minds and start thinking he's a giant dork or just plain lame. The reality of it is that he knows he's not really all that cool at all, just really weirdly good at faking it.

Underneath his eccentricities and deliberately aggravatingly poor social conduct, he's a true Guardian. He'll fight to the death for the things he loves and believes in and is more than willing to become a martyr if things get to that point.
His aggression shows through very strongly when he fights, whether it be physical or verbal. When confronted with violence, he retaliates without thinking and aims for complete and total victory, meaning he will fight dirty if he has to to get the upper hand. He doesn't really believe that the pen is mightier than the sword, but he won't hesitate to cut someone down a few pegs with a harsh verbal lashing, often leaving no room for the other person to speak until he's finished with a novel's worth of creative insults and threats.

For a long period of time he was completely broke until he discovered the glorious and expansive world of paraphilias and the people who paid real, actual money to subscribe to websites full of Paraphilic Interests. After that he promptly cashed in on other peoples' guilty pleasures like a dirty little opportunist and made a pretty good name for himself.
Bro has always had an eye for """business""". Even as a kid he was on the lookout for chances to con people out of their hard earned money, and con other kids out of some really cool toys. It didn't take long for him to be able to talk things he wanted right out of the hands of other people.

At times he can be a bit insecure, namely when removing his Cool Anime Shades or when things get serious on an emotional level. Being a logical person (and we use the term loosely here), he has a difficult time handling his own emotions and expressing them and has, in fact, spent most of his life avoiding them and pretending he didn't have them. Sometimes he slips up and lets things show or get to him, but you have to really be looking for the signs to catch it.

Once he warms up to someone, or if he's prompted, he can ramble on at length about his various interests and will do so for a very long time until someone physically shuts him up. It's a bit of a bad habit but sometimes Bro can be really chatty at the most inconvenient times.

His relationship with Dave was one of fierce rivalry. Naturally he loved the kid and felt very protective over him, but never seemed to put a second thought into trying to pitch him off the roof of their high-rise apartment or swinging very sharp blades at him at speeds largely invisible to the naked eye.
Bro insists that being so harsh on Dave was his way of preparing him for the game. He's unsure of how Dave feels about him though, and tries to avoid thinking about it too much because it brings out his inner, and very well hidden, tendency to worry about everything.

History: Collected neatly in a Wiki page.

Strengths: High stamina and agility, strong vocabulary, high pain tolerance, he's good with his hands, thinks best on his feet and does indcredibly well under pressure. He's also very adept at making things up as he goes along and making it look like he had the entire thing planned - anything he does plan ahead for is usually very intricately thought out. He's able to weaponize a sylladex with ease and seems to be able to predict someone's movements before they make them.
Weaknesses: Zero sense of direction, erratic sleeping habits and slight insomnia, tends to secretly worry about things everything, his ridiculous tolerance to pain can lead to him not noticing potentially serious injuries or the possibility of making them worse, prone to migraines and now chest pains, can be very stubborn and will push himself to some pretty extreme limits for any number of reasons (being stubborn, just to prove he can do a thing, because someone said he couldn't, for shits and giggles, etc.)
Abilities: Flashstepping, superhuman speed and strength. (Also a skilled ventriloquist, DJ, beatboxer and sound-mimicker. He can do some crazy things with his mouth.)

Relationships to Canon Characters:
Dave Strider - (His adoptive brother and ecto-biological son.) At times it would seem kind of like their relationship is strained at times or at the very least a little bit volatile from an outsider's standpoint. Bro spent a lot of time training Dave to be a top-notch ironic rapping roof ninja, and some of those lessons involved random sword fights and burying Dave under a mountain of suggestive plush puppets. He's proud of Dave, though, for coming so far, and his initial fears that the kid might not make it were eased fairly quickly once they entered the Game.

First Person: Test-driven.

Third Person: When he woke up it was with a start. He expected to see oceans of fire and to feel hot metal on his back, but no. What greeted him was the inside of a train car. As he sat up, slowly due to the ache and stiffness in his body, his sword clattered to the floor.
This isn't exactly what he expected to see after he died. Remembering that he had, in fact, just died, he looked quickly down at his chest where he was sure there would be a gaping hole and blood stains, but found only the crisp white front of his shirt and a silver pocket watch on a chain around his neck. He frowned, somewhat confused, and turned the watch over once or twice in his hand.
He couldn't really complain about being alive again, but the unfamiliar surroundings put him a bit on edge.

With a slight wince he leaned forward and picked his sword up off the floor. No blood stains. It looked perfectly clean and even glinted softly off the blue-grey light that filtered lazily through the window behind him. He could even see his reflection. "Jesus," he muttered, looking around once more.
The train began to slow down and as he turned to look out the window he saw the vague, dark shape of a train station coming into view. Once it stopped, that foreboding feeling was tickling at the edges of his nerves and he flashstepped out of the train car and onto the station platform. He brushed down the little hairs on the back of his neck that were prickled and tightened his jaw, his sword gripped firmly in his other hand. Weird situation, weird place, what the heck was going on?

He again shifted his eyes here and there to get a good look at the place and stepped cautiously closer. When he glanced over his shoulder, the train was gone and for a second his blood felt icy with anxiety. Hopefully whatever was going on here wasn't his own personal hell or something. Let's be honest, Bro wasn't exactly a saint. His worries were pretty well-founded, he thought.
A few posters told him vaguely of where he was. Some kind of Ruby City, which he'd never heard of, where he would be stuck indefinitely. Great. Fantastic. Almost instantly he began worrying for the kids, still stuck in that awful Game.
No, they'd be okay. The Guardians had spent the last thirteen years preparing them for that stupid thing, they'd be alright...
For now he just had to... figure things out?

Bro looked down at the watch around his neck and frowned slightly as he opened it up. It didn't take long to figure out and after a few moments he had a message typed up, sent, and was back to fiddling with the device to discover just what it could do.
